Robbies Billiards News and Notes March 2011
Good weather is on the way so it is time for another update from Maryland's largest specialty retailer.
Robbies owners were again asked to participate in the Brunswick Dealer Advisory Council in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. While stuck inside a four star resort during a Blizzard, Brunswick management and engineers were able to squeeze in some actual work around cocktails and meals. Topic included modern buyer behavior (shocker: people like to shop online!) and upcoming furniture trends. Brunswick was happy to report that for the third straight year they had gained market share, especially in the new Shuffleboard Table category.
The Hagerstown Southside Bowling League had thier annual Bowl for the Cure charity fundraiser on March 5th. Robbies donated pool cues and cases to the event as raffle prizes. Other charitable events sponsored by Robbies this month include the St. Maria Gorretti athletic association fundraiser and alumni event.
In industry news, owner Al McGarity was nominated for a seat on the Billiard Congress of America Board of Directors. Mr. McGarity was nominated for one of two Retail Representatives to sit along side reps from the vending business, wholesale manufacturers, and billiard pool halls. The BCA is our industries main organization and represents over 500 members and businesses around the world. The job of the BCA is to promote the sport of Billiards and put on the annual BCA Trade Show.
